More than Art Fair, More than Ink

Aside from holding a large-scale art expo, INK NOW will run its own website to advocate ink art appreciation through a series of not-for-profit academic exchange activities in Asia and Europe, collector's gatherings, curated online exhibitions and distributions of e- Newsletters. Integrating academic knowledge and market perspectives, networks and resources of the ink art industry, INK NOW aims at fostering the development of the ink art industry chain.
Architecture concept that lingers your mind
INK NOW Taipei Art Expo x Hom Liou unique architectural interior design takes curatorial inspiration from four of China's finest gardens located within the Summer Palace, the Chengde Imperial Resort in Hebei, the Humble Administrator's Garden and the Lingering Garden of Suzhou.
Interpreting the legendary folklore of 'Three Islands of the Gods", these gardens have been recreated within the 6,000 m2 of the exhibition hall where visitors can become immersed in the Eastern spirit. INK NOW Taipei Art Expo presents an array of ink art including paintings, Sculpture, photography as well as digital and installation art. Showcasing selective artworks from leading Asian galleries and renowned institutions, highlights include the delicately curated "INK NOW Masters" exhibition as well as the "Oolong School of Art" reflecting Taiwanese Ink art in the 1980's, As well as public installations.
Hom Liou is the founder of WOOYO, he also gives lecture at the Taiwan Tunghai University Architecture Department, and worked at renowned Pei Partnership Architects before he founded the company.
Eastern Origin in Contemporary Expression
INK NOW puts forward a discourse that is not only progressive but also developmental in nature: "Eastern Origin in Contemporary Expression". A discourse can constantly readjust itself with the development of the contemporary art and ink art market. Every discourse has its own historical context What INK NOW is facing today is the urgent need of promoting the values of Eastern aesthetics - and therefore cementing its place in the contemporary art world - in the age of globalised and digitalised visual language as well as virtual economy.
In the context that Asian contemporary art is leaning towards Western discourses, INK NOW advocates Eastern aesthetic and cultural valueabilities facilitats greater international dialogue to pass on the Eastern spirit conveyed in ink art.

Calvin Hui is an acclaimed cultural entrepreneur, art advisor, collector and curator based in Hong Kong. Recognised as one of the leading figures in the local art scene, he has been active in promoting modern and Contemporary Chinese art over the years, especially with a Focus on promoting ink art.
In 2018, Hui announces the establishment of the world's first multifaceted ink art platform INK NOW and will organise the first INK NOW Art Expo in January 2019 in Taipei. Spearheading to hold a new form of art expo that is different from the traditional art fair, He hopes to raise international attention to Chinese ink art by grounding it in academic research and market insights.
